With more than 15 million copies in circulation and translated in 215 languages worldwide, ‘Facts for Life’, an UNICEF publication, aims to make life-saving knowledge easily available to everyone.

Tuesday, March 28th, 2017

It presents the most important facts that mothers should know to prevent deaths and diseases in babies. It also shares info on protecting mothers during pregnancy and childbirth. It is jointly published by UNICEF, WHO, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNDP, UNAIDS, WFP and the World Bank.

Here are selected messages on safe motherhood and newborn health from the book.

 Your baby has just started learning to eat and must be fed frequently and patiently.

Take proper care to ensure that her food contains all the nutrients needed for healthy growth and proper protection.

One important thing to keep in mind, these foods should partner rather than replace breast milk!
