Here are some tips which give you an idea of reading to your sitter or crawler child:
Pick the right book
Get the right books for your child’s age such as board books, books with lots of interesting images, textures. Babies love seeing their reflection so get some books that have pages with mirror/reflecting paper.
Read Aloud
At this age, your baby loves to hear your voice, so read aloud and clear to your child. Reading aloud to your child helps to develop senses, listening and memory skills which make him or her prospective reader.
Reading Time
Cuddle your baby while reading so that your baby feels secure and comfortable.
Set a reading time for your child, possibly during naptime or bedtime. Gradually, your baby becomes familiar with particular reading time. You can also read to your baby on other times when your baby is fed and alert.
Avoid Hurrying Up
Read slowly and avoid hurrying up on finishing a book. Read the pages repetitively that your baby enjoy.
Thus, reading can be a wonderful experience for you and your baby which strengthens the connection between both of you.
