Let us look at the different aspects of your baby’s development at this stage.

Physical Development - Progresses from crawling to standing. Your baby might be able to walk forward and sideways by holding a hand.Your baby may even attempt to walk alone.

Contact your child’s doctor if you observe signs of developmental delay that is if your child:
Does not crawl.
Is not able to stand with support
Cannot say single words like “mama” or “dada”
Does not point at things.

Language Development - Understands various words and can respond to simple commands. Your baby also reacts to vocal music and says words like “mama” or “dada”.

Cognitive Development- Copies your gestures, begins exploring things by shaking, banging or throwing them. Your baby also searches for hidden things.

Emotional Development - Develops the ability to trust. Your baby is also sensitive to your ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

Social Development - Likes to show affection and feels shy or nervous with strangers . Babies at this stage like to have their parents near them.
