Selecting and Handling Your Baby’s Wardrobe.

Select Clothes According to Seasons: India experiences a wide range of seasonal changes and one thing that gets most affected by it is the choice of clothes.

Winter Clothing for Your Baby: In winters you may need to buy a lot of woolens, caps, socks and mittens for the baby. While dressing up your baby in winters, you do not need to cover her up with piles of clothes, woolens completely. Babies tend to get hot very fast and run the risk of overheating if you stuff them up. The general rule to follow is to dress them up with just one more layer of clothing than your self to keep them comfortable.

Summer Clothing for Your Baby: In summers keep the clothing minimal and stick to cotton or linen clothes that keep the baby cool and comfortable. The clothes should be sufficiently loose and comfortable, so as to allow proper passage of air through them and allow the perspiration to evaporate. Avoid synthetics as they block the air passage and make babies sweaty and restless.

Comfortability:The dress that you select for your baby should always be comfortable , soft and preferably made of cotton. It should not have too many fancy accessories added to it, to prevent any chances of choking up or hurting the baby. The clothes should be comfortably loose without too many elastics. If there are elastics in the dress, they should be comfortably loose. Avoid clothes with too many fastenings or buttons.

Diaper Basics. Diapers play a very significant role in your baby’s comfort and mood. You need to keep a few things in mind while diapering your baby:

Readymade Diapers: Choose the right size of the diaper according to your baby’s age and weight. The elastics should not be too tight and the material should be soft, tissue based and highly absorbent to keep the baby as dry as possible.

Cloth Diapers: If you use cloth diapers, the cloth should be soft cotton and the diaper pins should be made of stainless steel. The pins should be rust free and safely fastened. Ensure that the diaper pin does not touch the baby’s skin and it should not be in baby’s reach.

Precautions While Diapering Baby Boys: Diapering should always be done with your baby lying down on her back in front of you, so that you can place the diaper appropriately in the right position. Be gentle while putting a diaper on your baby boy. Place the diaper so as to accommodate your baby boy’s privates comfortably.

Cleaning: Avoid using bleaches or starch while washing your baby’s clothes. Use of strong detergents should be avoided for baby clothes. The last rinse with an antiseptic or disinfectant is a must while cleaning baby clothes. Dry the baby’s clothes outside, so that they are exposed to bright sunlight.
