Causes
There could be several reasons for stomach ache that include:
Simple measures such as practicing good hand hygiene, avoiding overeating and fatty foods, including fibre rich foods and plenty of water in the diet can help prevent tummy troubles in your child.
- Constipation: This is the most common cause for abdominal pain. If your child has not passed stools for a while or his or her bowel movements are hard, then it can cause constipation.
- Diarrhea: Sometimes stomach infections result in runny, watery bowel movements inducing abdominal pain.
- Excessive consumption of food: Often kids get abdominal pain due to overeating or eating spicy food. Abdominal cramps can also occur if a child suffers from food allergy.
- Infections: Other than stomach infections, sore throat, pneumonia, ear infection and urinary tract infections might cause abdominal pain.
- Appendicitis or other painful problems: If it hurts on lower right side of the abdomen it might indicate appendicitis.
