Premature baby have many special needs of warmth, nutrition, etc as compared to a full term baby which makes their care different from that of a full term baby. The following tips might help you to deal with a preterm birth.

Ask your doctor about kangaroo care method which helps in building immunity through skin-to-skin contact between you and your baby.

  • Use a breast pump to establish your milk supply till your baby is able to breastfeed.
  • Moreover, since premature babies are too immature to be fed directly from the breast. For some time you need to pump breast milk and feed your 
    baby through a tube which goes from your baby’s mouth or nose into the stomach.
  • Take help from your friends or family with your household activities such as cooking, cleaning house, etc so that you can save energy for taking care
    of your baby and take lots of rest.
  • Along with physical support, emotional support is most important during this phase of time. So, seek support from your husband, friends and family
    whenever you feel low.
